Illustrator query...

Does anyone know who illustrated the pan paperbacks covers - incl Sherlock Holmes?

I picked up The Valley of Fear today just for the wonderful and slightly strange cover.
I have searched the net but no joy.

I did find an interesting web-site with repros of books such as this:

which is clearly the same cover artist.

However, there is no name mentioned and the edition of TVOF which is on the site is a different one to mine.

Any ideas?

Can't see the pic, alas. Which book on the website is it referring to?
oops! sorry, drat and double drat. Hope that's fixed it???

'The India-Rubber Men' by Edgar Wallace.
Well, library thing failed me, but Google came up with this:
http://tikit.net/Chibnall%20PPC8.htm
and the root site http://tikit.net/ seems to be the most likely place to find the answer.
thanks! i shall investigate:)

that's the book:)

and the site mentions:
" R Sax, Carl Wilton, David Taylor, Sam Peffer, Rex Archer, Edward Mortlemans, Josh Kirby, Gordon James, E MacConnell"

so a suspect list at least!
thanks again:)
Yes, and I think that little white squiggle near the illo may be a signature.
you're right! My sight is really quite bad so I would never have spotted it till you mentioned it! 'Mendoza'!
Mystery solved! (sort of!)
ha ha! we both arrived at the scene at same time! go us!:)
I couldn't read the squiggle...

case closed!:)
